The aftermath of a shocking acid attack outside Westminster Academy in Notting Hill, West London, has left a 14-year-old schoolgirl, Teagan McFarlane, and two others severely injured. Authorities have made significant progress in their investigation but are still seeking further information from the public.
The Attack and Initial ResponseThe Attack and Initial Response
On September 30, Teagan McFarlane was targeted while leaving Westminster Academy. According to police reports, a lone assailant on an electric scooter threw a corrosive substance at her and a 16-year-old boy before fleeing the scene down Harrow Road. A 27-year-old teacher who intervened to assist the victims also suffered injuries.
Corey McFarlane, Teagan’s father, expressed his devastation: “Words cannot express the shock, pain, and trauma she is going through, both physically and emotionally.” Teagan sustained burns to the left side of her face and is currently undergoing medical treatment, including surgery. Her father remains by her side, administering eye drops and applying paraffin to her face.
The injured boy has since been discharged from the hospital, while the teacher also received treatment and has now returned home.

After a four-day search, the Metropolitan Police arrested a 35-year-old man on October 3 on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. The man, who was taken to a central London police station, has since been released on bail pending further inquiries. He is scheduled to answer his bail later this month.
Additionally, a 14-year-old girl was arrested in connection with the attack but has also been released on bail as the investigation continues. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward, particularly those who may have dashcam footage of the suspect fleeing the scene on Alfred Road around the time of the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Dean Purvis stated: “We are aware of the concerns raised by the community and questions that are being asked about the circumstances surrounding the incident. My officers will not stop until the suspect is fully brought to justice. We urge anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact us immediately.”
