“Train Horror: Stabbing Survivor Saved by Hero Surgeon as Suspect Claims Self-Defence in Knife Rampage!”

Train passengers, including a child, witnessed a terrifying ordeal earlier this year as a young man was repeatedly stabbed with a large knife onboard a train, a court has heard.
However, in a twist in the trial of 19-year-old Rakeem Thomas, who is charged with attempted murder, the accused now claims that the knife used in the attack originally belonged to the victim and that he acted in self-defense.
A viral video of the incident shows Thomas knifing a man onboard a train traveling between Shortlands and Beckenham Junction stations. What initially appeared to be a chance encounter between the two men quickly escalated into a life-threatening stabbing during the brief three-minute journey. Passengers screamed for the attack to stop as the victim lay on the floor, but the attack continued.
Prosecutors allege that Thomas fled the train upon arrival at Beckenham Junction, later telling his mother, “it was either him or me.” However, new details have emerged as the trial progresses, with Thomas stating that the victim had stabbed him in a previous altercation, which he claims motivated his actions on the day of the attack.

Prosecutor Michael Williams opened the trial by telling the jury that Thomas boarded the train at Orpington, standing by the doors as the train pulled into Shortlands, where the victim, a man in his 20s, was waiting.
“There is no evidence that either male knew they were going to come face-to-face with one another as the train doors opened,” Mr. Williams said. “Immediately, violence started between the two men.”
Although witnesses initially described the confrontation as “ruffling about” or a “back-and-forth” scuffle, it quickly escalated. Passengers first noticed the large knife when the victim was thrown to the ground, and one witness described the weapon as being “more like a sword,” while another called it a “Rambo knife.” Thomas was seen repeatedly plunging the knife into the victim, pausing only briefly to catch his breath.
Terrified passengers, some of whom were children, were trapped in the confined space with no escape as the violent scene unfolded. “He chose to remain and repeatedly stab the victim over and over again,” Mr. Williams said. Despite passengers screaming for him to stop, Thomas allegedly ignored them and continued the assault.
